Straighten Your Teeth Fast!

by | Jun 13, 2019 | Invisalign

Straighten Your Teeth Fast There are multiple treatments to straighten teeth, and they are all categorized as “cosmetic“.

But some treatments straighten teeth, and others merely make them look straight.

Which approach you choose depends on your case.

However, at Warner Lakes Dental, we often recommend physical straightening with Invisalign® clear aligners.

Invisalign® has been around for a while, and you likely know of someone who is enjoying their beautiful results, whether you knew they were undergoing Invisalign® or not!

Let’s take a look at some of the options available for straightening teeth, and then discuss why Invisalign® is often the best approach, combining attractive elements from the other potential treatments -conventional braces, porcelain veneers, and tooth bonding.

Braces vs Invisalign®

Braces and Invisalign® are used for serious cases of overbite, underbite, crooked teeth, etc.

And while they are ‘cosmetic’ treatments, there are often excellent health-based reasons to straighten teeth having to do with fighting decay and cavities, better nutrition, and a variety of dental issues that crooked teeth can cause.

Many patients with crooked or crowded teeth, particularly adults, choose to go without straightening due to worries about how metal brackets and wires will affect harm their smile.

And traditional braces are indeed aesthetically unpleasing compared to Invisalign®. Let’s look at some of the more practical advantages of Invisalign®.

Fewer trips to the dental office

Traditional braces require a wire-tightening every six weeks or so, depending on your case.

Invisalign®, on the other hand, gives you months worth of new aligners (or sends them to you regularly) that you can replace at home every two weeks.

No repairs needed!

Because there are so many parts to traditional braces, they can break.

Sometimes a bracket or wire may become loose, and there may be pain, and there will undoubtedly be a trip to the office.

With Invisalign®, repairs should not be needed— a lost, broken or otherwise damaged aligner can be easily replaced.

Easier cleaning

Keeping your teeth and conventional braces clean can be quite tricky. Traditional braces cover the teeth and give plenty of nooks and crannies for pieces of food and plaque to hide.

You’ll have to learn how to floss around your braces, and at the end of the treatment process, you may require professional cleaning to restore the brightness of your smile.

Clear Invisalign® braces allow you to remove the aligner, clean your teeth as usual and then replace the aligner.

This ability to remove the aligner is also useful if you are going to play sports, sing, eat sticky or hard foods, or play musical instruments that require breath.

Nearly invisible

This is the most significant social advantage, unlike braces, which can limit your desire to talk, eat, smile, socialize, etc.,

Invisalign® aligners are barely noticeable and, as we have noted, can be taken out in a pinch!

With these visible and “invisible” advantages over braces, Invisalign® may be the right choice for you.

Veneers and Bonding vs Invisalign®

Veneers offer a great way to ‘straighten’ your smile. Instead of moving your teeth as Invisalign® does, veneers are bonded to your existing teeth.

For teeth that are not too crooked, they can give the appearance of straightness.

However, the teeth underneath remain crooked, and there are many bite issues that veneers cannot address – in fact, in some cases veneers can make bite issues worse!

Porcelain veneers are one effective way to straighten the appearance of slightly out of line teeth, but there is another cosmetic option to consider.

Some people select dental bonding for minor misalignments. Dental bonding can give you a great looking smile and cost less than veneers, but they won’t last long.

As with all dental treatments, a consultation with your Warner dentist will help clear up what the best choice is for you.

Invisalign® – a great alternative!

Invisalign® is an excellent choice for teeth straightening, particularly in cases where the misalignment cannot or should not be dealt with using purely cosmetic treatment.

Invisalign® not only gives you the look of straight teeth, but it also gives you really straight teeth.

And in many cases, it can do this without the inconvenience, discomfort, and unfortunate appearance associated with traditional dental braces.
